If there is something that I like, it is the foods that help improve our health, especially the so-called superfoods. That’s why I’m sharing with you this tasty recipe of Super Breakfast Oatmeal, Chia Seeds, and Fruits.
Firstly, I would like to let you know that I call chia seeds “happy little seeds“. And I have given them this name to give them personality and motivate my son’s palate. So believe me, it has been a very effective strategy.
Chia seeds have no flavor, but they do add texture to foods. Therefore, when they are mixed with liquid and allowed to sit for at least an hour, they puff up and grow ten times their size.
Some facts about chia seeds
- They were originally cultivated by the Aztecs hundreds of years ago.
- In the Mayan language chia means strength.
- It is an excellent source of Omega-3, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
- Just three tablespoons of these seeds provide 39% fiber, 15% calcium and 5 grams of protein of the daily values we need.
- They can be used as an egg substitute and are also used to thicken soups or broths.
- Studies have revealed that they help promote healthy skin, increase metabolism, regulate cholesterol, maintain strong bones, and much more.
You have probably already seen a picture of chia seeds pudding. And you may have thought about how delicious it looks, but you don’t know how simple it is to make this recipe. The pudding itself has a jelly-like consistency, and you may be like me, who was not impressed the first time I tried it.
For a while, I was testing various recipes in which I could add chia seeds. I was looking for a better texture that my family and I would like.
Finally, I found the perfect match for us. A recipe that, apart from being super healthy, tastes delicious and you can make it in different flavors.
I recommend that you try this recipe without removing any ingredients, so you have the opportunity to know if you like it. Then try different flavors and add your favorite ingredients.
Motivate yourself to prepare this super breakfast several times a week to increase your energy for the day, especially in the mornings when we are at work. Undoubtedly, you will do a whole month’s worth of work.

Super breakfast made with Oats, Chia Seeds, and Fruits
Ingredients
- 1 cup almond milk
- 1 cup yogurt, plain
- 1 cup oats, old fashioned
- 1 banana, mashed
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons chia seeds, organic
- 1/2 cup berries, fresh or frozen
- nuts and fruits, for topping
Instructions
- In a deep bowl, mix the milk, yogurt, oats, banana, vanilla extract, maple syrup, and salt.
- Add the chia seeds to the mixture, make sure there are no lumps and the seeds are all covered by the liquid.
- Add the berries and stir a few more times.
- Place in small containers and cover with a lid or plastic wrap. Refrigerate overnight or for at least 5 hours.
- The next day, add the fruit and nut toppings before serving.
Notes
- For best results, follow the recipe as is, then substitute with your favorite ingredients.
- Fresh fruits can be mashed and added before refrigerating to add more flavor.
- Toppings can be added the night before or immediately before serving.
